Today we are honored to announce the creation of a new team level and the first player addition to this Team. Please help us welcome Shasta Criss as the inaugural member of our Icon Team. The Icon Team has been created to highlight players that have achieved great heights in their disc golf career while representing DGA to the highest standards.
Born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA (the backyard of DGA HQ), Shasta grew up playing traditional golf at DeLaveaga Golf Course. He was introduced to disc golf at DeLaveaga DGC in high school, and played casually for 10 years before discovering the tournament scene. Shasta played his first event at DeLaveaga DGC in the 2005 Faultline Classic, a professional A-Tier. Once he got a taste of competitive Disc Golf, he was really hooked. He quickly climbed the ranks on the professional level and in 2010 joined Team DGA. Not long after joining DGA he got his first pro win at the 2010 Faultline Classic. Since then his list of accomplishments has grown into a lengthy resume, and his career has really blossomed once he reached Masters age. Shasta has won NTs, many A-Tiers, Skill Shot and Mini Golf World titles, was runner-up in the Master’s division at Worlds in 2016, and has TWO MP40 points titles! Of all those accomplishments, winning numerous “spirit of the game” awards are the accomplishments he is most proud of.
DGA was Shasta’s first manufacturer sponsor and our partnership and friendship has grown ever since. We are proud of the way he has represented himself, the sport, and DGA for many years, and are proud to make him the first member of the new Icon Team. You’re the best, Shasta! Well deserved.
