The basket is great although I wish there were better assembly instructions, DGA should have a video showing how to put the cage together on the website or youtube would seriously improve the customer experience.

    Hi Matt,

Thanks for your feedback and sorry about the shipping issues you experienced. The Mach 3 and the Mach 5 are/were manufactured differently.

The Mach 3 inner chain holder is made up of four stacked levels or planes of wire, two round rings, and V-shaped chain strand holders. Each of these pieces is welded to each other to create a very sturdy structure around the central pole collar which only requires minimal welding. Most of the welds on the Mach 3 are from below and out of sight.

The inner portion of the Mach 5’s chain holder is made up of a single level or plane of wire, where all the chain strand holders radiate outward from the central pole collar. Half of the wire chain strand holders are single pieces of wire that sit between or next to a V-shaped chain strand holder. Since each of these wire pieces attach next to each other more welding material is used. Unlike the Mach 3, the welds are from the top and the welding material is more visible to the eye than the Mach 3 welds. We use custom welding jigs to apply the same amount of welding material to the exact location on each Mach 5 chain holder during the manufacturing process.

The welding is a different material and texture than the wire and creates an area that has more surface friction. Condensation does not roll off as well and when the condensation evaporates the minerals remaining leave the discoloration and fine mineral powder.

We work hard with our galvanizer in order to get the cleanest and shinest galvanizing. The shiny and smother galvanizing has the downside of contrasting more with the weld points and while we want the raw hot-dipped galvanized baskets to look their best they are primarily designed specifically for strength and longevity for outdoor permanent installations.

    Thank you for your feedback.

Regardless, you shipped out the basket and the pole on two different days; the basket sent Tuesday and the pole Wednesday. Had they been shipped together, they would’ve arrived together. That sounds like not UPS’s fault, but the fault of your shipping department. I don’t know if you are accidentally overlooking that fact, or just hoping i did, but basically saying “sorry, that happens” really is not acceptable customer service.

      Hi Matt,

All I can say is I’m sorry it took so long to receive your package. I am also truly sorry that you feel that it is due to our shipping department or customer service.
We do make mistakes and I would have no problem apologizing for sending out a late package if that was the case, however that is not the case.

Our records are clear that the labels were created and the packages shipped out together on 05/19 from our warehouse in Watsonville CA.

      – For some reason, out of our control, the pole was held up at the UPS hub in Santa Cruz, CA until 05/21.
      – Then again for some reason out of our control, the pole shipped from San Pablo, CA to Angels Camp, CA.
      – The pole was then shipped back to San Pablo, CA from Angels Camp, CA.
      – The pole was then delayed until 05/27 after going back and forth between San Pablo, CA, and Angels Camp, CA.
      – On 06/01 your pole was back on track and arrived at your home on 06/02.
(Please see the Detailed View under the Shipment Progress tap on UPS.com)

My apologies again for all the inconvenience.
